Vince Neil (Mötley Crüe)

Vince Neil (Mötley Crüe)

Happy birthday to Mr. Vincent Neil Wharton aka Vince Neil, who was born on the 8th February 1961 in Hollywood, California (USA).

Neil attended Sunflower Intermediate School and later Royal Oak High School in Glendora. Beside his interest in music he was also into surfing, basketball, football and wrestling. And during his highschool time, he became friends with drummer Tommy Lee. In the seventies, Neil Vince was the singer in the band Rockandi, before he was asked to join the Heavy Metal band Mötley Crüe, which was founded by bassist Nikki Sixx and Neil’s long time mate and drummer Tommy. In 1981, the debüt album „Too Fast for Love“ was released and with the second LP „Shout at the Devil“ (feat. the singles „Looks That Kill“ and „Too Young to Fall in Love„), Mötley Crüe became a huge act on the Metal scene.

In 1984 a tragic accident happened: Neil Vince was driving home with his friend Nicholas „Razzle“ Dingley, who was the drummer for Hanoi Rocks. During a head-on collision, Razzle was killed and Neil was charged with „Driving under Influence“ and „Vehicular Manslaughter“ and sentenced to 30 days in jail. He also received a $ 2,000,000 fine. The upcoming Mötley Crüe album „Theatre of Pain„, which was released on 21st June 1985, was dedicated to Dingley and the band started into their Glam Metal phase, which was refined on the next and also very successful albums „Girls, Girls, Girls“ (1987) and „Dr. Feelgood“ (1989), which went No. 1 in the USA.

In February 1992, Neil Vince quit the band and he concentrated on his passion Indy racing and started also a solo career. First, his single „You’re Invited (But Your Friend Can’t Come)“ was released by following his debut album „Exposed“ in 1993. Two years later, the more Industrial sounding LP „Carved in Stone“ hit the market.

In 1997 Neil returned to Mötley Crüe and the comeback album „Generation Swine„, which reached No. 4 in the US chart, hit the stores. The next two studio works „New Tattoo“ (2000) and „Saints of Los Angeles“ (2008) were released on their own label Mötley Records.

In 2015, the band announced the end of Mötley Crüe. They are going to do their last world tour and the final two concerts are scheduled for the 30th and 31st December at Staples Center, Los Angeles.
