Alvin Lee (19th December 1944 – 6th March 2013)

On the 19th December 1944, Mr. Graham Anthony Barnes aka Alvin Lee was born in Nottingham, UK. Alvin was the frontman and guitarist of the Blues-Rock band Ten Years After, which he founded in the sixties. The self-titled debut album was released in 1967 and in 1969 the band became very famous after the legendary performance at the Woodstock Festival.

After the eighth studio album „Positive Vibrations“ (1974), Ten Years After broke up and Alvin Lee started his solo career. In 1988 a band reunion happened and the comeback album „About Time“ followed (1989). Alvin left Ten Years After in 2003 and was replaced by Joe Gooch. Lee recorded three more solo albums: „In Tennessee“ (2004), „Saguitar“ (2007) and „Still on the Road to Freedom“ (2012). On the 6th March 2013, Alvin Lee died at the age of 68. According to his webite, „unforeseen complications following a routine surgical procedure“ caused his death.
