Music Diary – 15th August

Welcome to my personal music diary – today for the 15th August!

In the year 2006 I attended the show of the Twilight Singers in Vienna at the Flex. Frontman Greg Dulli (from the outstanding Afghan Whigs) parted the stage with Mr. Mark Lanegan (formerly Screaming Trees).

Pictures of the show you can find here – just scoll down to the mentioned date 15/08.

Music Diary – 14th August

Welcome to my personal music diary – today for the 14th August!

On this day in the year 2005 I attended one of the best live shows ever:
WOVEN HAND played in Vienna at the small club B72. It was one of the most intense live experience in my whole life.

And in 2009 another Denver based band had my attention: Devotchka played in Munich at the Ampere a wonderful set.

Music Diary – 13th November

Welcome back to my Music Diary – today for the 13th November!

In 2006 Nick Cave did a sort of solo tour – he was accompanied by the Bad Seeds members Martyn P. Casey, Jim Sclavunos and Warren Ellis. And yes, this line up is the same as in Grinderman, a side project by Nick Cave.

Music Diary – 1st November

Hey music maniacs all around the world – welcome to another entry in my personal music diary!

Today, on the 1st November 2004 I took the chance to see the funpunker of The Toy Dolls live on stage. Olga and his boys played in Vienna at the Planet Music, which was formerly better known as the Rockhaus. Needless to say that it was a very funny performance including hits like “Nellie, the Elephant”, “Idle Gossip” and “Dig that Groove, Baby”!

Music Diary – 30th October

Welcome again to my personal Music Diary – today for the 30th October!

Back in 2002 Mr. Nick Cave played a special solo show feat. Warren Ellis, Jim White and Norman Watt-Roy in Vienna at the wonderful Burgtheater. It was obvious that this “band” didn’t play a long time together – I do think it was the very first time that they performed officialy. The soundcheck was VERY long so the show started one hour late. This performance was part of the 10th anniversary of the “schule für dichtung“, a school for poetry in Vienna for which Nick Cave did some lectures.

Setlist, pictures and reviews from different newspapers can be seen here (just scroll down to the bottom of the page).

Music Diary – 22nd October

Welcome to my personal Music Diary!

Today, on the 22nd October 2003, the amazing Walkabouts played a show in Vienna at the Szene. Larry Barrett did a wonderful support that night and after the show Chris Eckman and Carla Torgerson were so kind to sign some CD covers and the poster below – thanks again!

Music Diary – 28th July

Hello to my music diary for the 28th July!

Back in 2005 I attended a great Calexico show in Vienna at the Arena. The open air gig was started by singer Amos Lee and after that Joey Burns, John Convertino and the rest of the fantastic band gave us a performance which suited perfectly to the weather: WONDERFUL!
