The concert was recorded and released under the moniker „At Folsom Prison“ by Columbia Records in May 1968. The LP became one of Johnny Cash’s most famous and successful albums and it reached number one the country chart and the top 15 on the regular album chart.

Welcome to my Music Diary – today for the 29th November!
George Harrison (25th February 1943 – 29th November 2001)
On the 29th November 2001, George Harrison died at the age of 58 years of lung cancer. The Beatles guitarist passed away in Los Angeles. Born on the 25th February 1943 in Liverpool, the very young Harrision joined at the age of 15 a band called The Quarrymen in 1958, which became in 1960 The Beatles. Beside the many hits, which were composed mainly by John Lennon und Paul McCartney, also George Harrision wrote some classics like „While My Guitar Gently Weeps“ (1968), „Here Comes the Sun“ and „Something“ (both 1969). After the break-up in 1970, George Harrison concentrated more on his solo career. After his two albums „Wonderwall Music“ (1968) and „Electronic Sound “ (1969) his third effort „All Things must Pass“ (3-LP-Set) marked his first solo work after the official end of The Beatles. This triple set features also the hit „My Sweet Lord“ (released in November 1970). In 1971 George Harrison organised the charity event „Concert for Bangladesh„, which took place on the 1st August 1971 at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Beside his music career, George Harrison worked also as a film producer. In 1978 he co-founded „HandMade Films„, which produced the classic „Monty Pyhton’s Life of Brian“ (1979).
Welcome to my Music Diary – today for the 12th September!
Johnny Cash (26th February 1932 – 12th September 2003)
The 12th September 2003 is one of the saddest days in music history: The Man in Black, John R. „Johnny“ Cash, died at the age of 71 years in Nashville, Tennessee.
Cash was well known as the outstanding Country musician, but he was quite more than this. He knew no borders and especially his last albums, the legendary „American Recordings„, which were produced by Rick Rubin, prove that.
Welcome ot my Music Diary – today for the 9th March!
On the 9th March 1991, the British Punk band The Clash had their only No.1 single in the UK with the reissue of „Should I Stay Or Should I Go„. Due to the Levi’s television ad, the song became a huge hit.
The song was written in 1981 and originally released in 1982 on the LP „Combat Rock„. The lead vocals were sung by Mick Jones, while the Spanish backing vocals were sung by Joe Strummer and Joe Ely.
Welcome to my music diary – today for the 21st August!
Joe Strummer (1952 – 2002)
In 1952 Mr. John Graham Mellor was born in Ankara, Turkey. He was better known as Joe Strummer, who fronted the legendary punkers The Clash from 1976 until the break up in 1985. After that Joe Strummer started a successful solo career and founded his band The Mescaleros. On the 22nd December 2002 Joe Strummer passed away at the age of only 50 years. He died in his home at Broomfield in Somerset, the victim of an undiagnosed congenital heart defect.
About the story (from wikipedia):
The West Memphis Three are three men who were tried and convicted as teenagers in 1994 of the 1993 murders of three boys in West Memphis, Arkansas. Damien Echols was sentenced to death, Jessie Misskelley, Jr. was sentenced to life imprisonment plus two 20-year sentences, and Jason Baldwin was sentenced to life imprisonment. During the trial, the prosecution asserted that the children were killed as part of a Satanic ritual. A number of documentaries have been based on the case, and celebrities and musicians have held fund raisers in the belief that they are innocent. (continue reading here)
14/01/2012: THE WALKABOUTS – Ebensee (Kino)
Support by Terri Tarantula aka Terri Moeller
My second time seeing this amazing band from the US – The Walkabouts! Although frontman Chris Eckman is now living in Slovenia the sound didn’t change at all. With the new songs from the amazing album “Travels in the Dustland” this outstanding band proved their unique style in Ebensee at the Kino. Drummer Terri Moeller aka Terri Tarantula did the support during that tour and so the shows started very sweet and soft before The Walkabouts (Chris Eckman, Carla Torgerson, Terri Moeller, Michael Wells, Glenn Slater and Paul Austin) rocked with full force (as you can see on the videos below – all recorded by long time fan Walter Horn)
17/01/2012: SLIM CESSNA’S AUTO CLUB – Innsbruck (Treibhaus – Small Hall)
The Auto Club played the second time at the Treibhaus in Innsbruck (The Tyrol). After their live debut back in 2009, when they played the big hall in front of a handful people, they played the small hall this time. And luckily many more people found their way this time to the Treibhaus. Slim Cessna’s Auto Club (Slim Cessna, Munly Munly, Daniel “Danny Pants” Grandbois, Todd “The Peeler” Moore, Lord Dwight Pentacost and Bob “Big Bad Bob” Ferbrache) did an amazing performance again and introduced us to the brandnew songs of „Unentitled„.

The awesome Slim Cessna’s Auto Club came back to Munich after they rocked the crowd in June 2011 during the so called “Pfingst Festival” at the Theatron. At the Kranhalle they proved again why the Auto Club is one of the best live bands ever.

The White Birch (Ola Fløttum, Hans Christian Almendingen, Ulf Rogde with Linda Wietfeldt) from Norway played that night at the Kino in Ebensee (Upper Austria). It was the perfect soundtrack (mostly songs from the current release „Come Up For Air„) to the winter landscape outside.

This show was billed as “An Evening with Mark Lanegan & Greg Dulli”, but they also perform as The Gutter Twins. It was forbidden to take pictures at the WUK – even some security guys were checking the audience the whole show! Very strange but anyway – great acoustic performance by the frontmen of The Screaming Trees and The Afghan Whigs! After the show I bought myself a shirt and a signed poster. During my shopping someone said to me that he also wanted the shirt I was wearing. Well, it was an original Afghan Whigs shirt which I bought back in 1999 and I will NOT sell it 😉
