On the 18th February 1990, singer Freddie Mercury made his final public appearance. With his band Queen, he collected the „Brit Award“ in the category for „Outstanding Contribution to Music“. The ceremony took place at the Dominion Theatre in London (UK). You can watch this historic moment here:


Freddie died only 21 months later – on the 24th November 1991. The most charismatic frontman of all time passed away at the age of 45 years. Just the day before, the Queen singer admitted he was HIV positive.

On the 24th November 1991 the Rock world lost one of the greatest and charismatic frontman of all time: Queen singer Freddie Merucry passed away at the age of only 45. Just the day before, Freddie admitted he was HIV positive. Merucry died of bronchopneumonia brought on by AIDS.

Born as Farrokh Bulsara on the 5th September 1946 in Sansibar, he founded in 1970 with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor the band Queen.  Freddie Merucry wrote many Queen hits, including the classics „Bohemian Rhapsody,“ „Killer Queen,“ „Somebody to Love,“ „Don’t Stop Me Now,“ „Crazy Little Thing Called Love“ and „We Are the Champions.“

Chris Slade

Drummer Chris Slade was born on the 30th October 1946 in Pontypridd, Wales (UK). The Welsh musician has worked with many acts – just to name a few: Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Tom JonesAsia, Uriah Heep, David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) and Gary Moore. Slade also played with Paul Rodgers and Jimmy Page in The Firm.

But Chris Slade is best known for his drumming for AC/DC from 1989 to 1994. He joined in November 1989 and took over the place from Simon Wright. In this period he recorded the studio album „The Razors Edge“ (1990). His powerful drumming is also featured on the releases „Live“ (released 1992), „Big Gun“ (1993 – Single for the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie „Last Action Hero„) and „Live at Donington“ (recorded 1991 – DVD). During the recording sessions for the next AC/DC album „Ballbreaker“ (1995), Malcolm Young told him, that the band wanted to do a reunion with former drummer Phil Rudd. Chris Slade about his time with AC/DC: „It was an honour and a privilege to play with those guys.“


In 2015, Chris Slade returned to AC/DC and took over the place from Phil Rudd again, who get into big legal troubles.The official band’s announcement: “Chris Slade will be on drums for the upcoming Rock or Bust world tour.”

Riley B. King aka B.B. King (born 16th September 1925)

In 1925 Mr. Riley B. King aka B.B. („Blues Boy“) King was born in Itta Bena, Mississippi, USA. King is one of the most outstanding Blues musicians of all time. In 2011 the magzine Rolling Stone ranked him at number six on its year list of the „100 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time„. Eight years before B.B. King was ranked on the third position of this poll.

King’s own description: „When I sing, I play in my mind; the minute I stop singing orally, I start to sing by playing my guitar Lucille.“


Jon Brewer directed the documentary film „The Life of Riley“ on the life of B.B. King which features the 88 years old „King of Blues“ and othere legends like Bill Wyman, Bono, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Willis, Buddy Guy, Carlos Santana, Dr. John, Eric Clapton, George Benson, Joe Bonamassa, Joe Walsh, John Mayer, John Mayall, Johnny Winter, Mick Taylor, Morgan Freeman, Ringo Starr, Ronnie Wood and Slash – just to name a few 😉

In 1946 Mr. Farrok Bulsara alias Freddie Mercury was born in Sansibar. In 1964 he moved with his family to England. Mercury began his music career as a singer for the band Wreckage and later he became a solo artist under the name Larry Lurex. In 1970 he founded with Brian May and Roger Taylor the band Queen. One year later bass player John Deacon completed the legendary line up. Mercury composed the classics „Killer Queen„, „Bohemian Rhapsody„, „We are the Champions„, „Don’t stop me now„, „Crazy little Thing called Love“ and „Body Language„.


Freddie Merucry was one of the most outstanding and charismatic singers/performers in Rock history. He died on the 24th November 1991 at the age of only 45 years in London.
