John Densmore (The Doors)
Happy bday to Mr. John Paul Densmore, who was born on the 1st December 1944 in Los Angeles!
As a child, John was teached piano and later drums/percussion. He attended Santa Monica City College and California State University (Northridge) where Densmore began also he studies on ethnic music under Jazz cellist Fred Katz. In 1965 he joined the legendary group The Doors as a drummer.
The quartet consisted of Ray Manzarek on keyboards, Robby Krieger on guitar and singer Jim Morrison. The last live performance took place on the 12th December 1970 in New Orleans and one year later (3rd July 1971) Morrison died at the age of 27. After this tragedy, the remained members continued as The Doors and recorded the two albums „Other Voices“ (1971) and „Full Circle“ (1972). Finally in 1973 the group disbanded.
