On the 21st March 1977 the third AC/DC album „Let There Be Rock“ was released in Australia. The LP was recorded in January and February of the same year at the Albert Studios in Sydney. Many of the eight new songs became AC/DC classics: Beside the title track other tunes like „Bad Boy Boogie“, „Hell ain’t a bad Place to be“ or „Whole lotta Rosie“ are still featured in the live set. For bass player Mark Evans these were the last recordings with AC/DC. Evans was sacked in May 1977 and replaced by Cliff Williams.
Like the AC/DC albums before, also „Let There Be Rock“ was issued in two different formats. The international version, released on 25th July 1977, has a different cover and features the iconic new logo, designed by Gerard Huerta. Also the tracklisting is not the same on CD: Instead of „Crabsody in Blue“ the already well-known track „Problem Child“ from the „Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap“ sessions were chosen. The vinyl releases have the same tracklisting (except in the USA and Japan).
During the recording sessions for „Let There Be Rock“ the song „Carry me Home“ was also recorded. This rare track was chosen for the B-side of the Australian Single „Dog eat Dog“ and later available for all fans all around the world on the „Backtracks“ Box-Set.
