Hello again – another entry in my personal music diary! This time for the 19th July!
Back in 1996 I added a wonderful and special CD to my huge Jethro Tull collection: The MFSL release of the outstanding album „Thick as a Brick“, which entered the charts worldwide in the year 1972. This one is a „Original Master Recording“ and comes as a 24 carat gold disc. The sound of these very special and limited editons is outstanding and nowadays very hard to find.
Welcome to my personal music diary for the 18th July!
In 2009 I had my long overdue live experience with the one and only Mrs. Patti Smith! The musician, singer and poet played an open air gig in Wels at the so called Schl8hof. Although Patti got a cold that night she did an awesome performance and served us a nice mixture of her classics and some nice surprises.
In 2003, so exactly ten years ago, I added another nice EP to my Calexico collection: „Alone Again Or“ which featured the songs „Alone again or“ (a Love cover and still a highlight of every Calexico show), „Woven Birds (Cinematic Orchestra Remixico)“, „Convict Pool“ and „Woven Birds (Stratus Remix)“.
In 2012 on th 16th July I got a CD of a very interesting German band called Schleuse. It was an EP with the title „Bestir“ and it featured the four songs „Bestir the Machine“, „Quixotic“, „Lion Scream“ and „No longer ours“. This fresh mixture of Folk, Rock, Indie and Pop hooked me immediately.
On the 15th July 2000 I was invited to see the master of the harp live in concert: Andreas Vollenweider and his band performed in Munich at the Tollwood Festival and he filled the air with a beautiful mixture of Jazz, Classic and World Music.
The legendary Rolling Stones stopped on the 14th July 2006 during their “Bigger Bang Worldtour” in Vienna. And for my second Stones live experience I had a perfect place at the so called “Wavebreaker” respectively Keith Richards and the band rolled by with the special B stage through the crowd and just a few meters next to me 😉
As you can see on the date the concert was postponed due to Mr. Richards‘ coconut accident 😉
Hey Musiclovers all around the world – welcome to my music diary again!
Today back in 2011 I received a very nice and special release from Murder By Death: This awesome band from Bloomington (Indiana) started a split vinyl single project for which they invite a group or musician who covers a Murder By Death song – and vice versa. In this case The Builders And The Butchers recorded the tracks „Ball and Chain“ and „Until Morale improves the Beatings will continue“. In reverse, Adam Turla, Sarah Balliet, Matt Armstrong, Dagan Thogerson and Scott Brackett recorded their versions of „In the Branches“ and „Down this Hole“.
The singles of this fine project are very limited editions of 1.000 copies worldwide. Before this release Murder By Death did the same with William Elliott Whitmore, O’Death, Amanda Palmer (from The Dresden Dolls) and Sam Lowry. More information about the 7 series you can find here: http://murderbydeath.bandcamp.com
Hello again to another entry in my personal music diary!
On the 12th July 2004 I received another collector’s item for my 16 Horsepower collection: From Australia I got the promo edition of the selftitled EP (distributed by Polydor in Down Under and released in 1995) which comes in a card sleeve. As you can see David Eugene Edwards was so nice and signed it a few years later 😉
